Description: This exceptional puukko is the work of Jeremy Spake of Portland, Oregon. Jeremy has been making knives since 2010. His work is heavily influenced by Scandinavian knives. This Nordic Puukko will be as comfortable on your belt out in the field as it would be in any collection!
Jeremy hand forged the blade from 52100 carbon steel. Many knifemakers (including the likes of Mastersmiths Bill Burke, Ed Fowler, Bob Kramer, and more) and knife users consider 52100 to be among the best, if not the best steel used in modern knifemaking. 52100 takes a super-sharp, long lasting edge. It has tremendous resilience and strength. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom appearance.
The handle is formed from layers of stacked birch bark surrounding a central spacer of bubinga (Guibourtia spp.). Birch bark is very traditional and provides good grip even when wet. Thin black fiber spacers help the wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The handle is nicely rounded and swells to fill the palm. Bronze front and rear bolsters surround the stacked wood finishing the handle.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Finnish hard leather sheath with a wood liner to keep the knife safely close at hand.
Exceptional work throughout!
