Description: Mickaël Moing is a true artist and creator of unique pieces. His workshop is located in Saint-Privat-d'Allier, France. He strives to make knives that are functional and practical, but are also true objects of art.
Higonokami are the classic folding pocket knives native to Japan. This traditional knife is a friction folder, using the friction of the swivel and the pressure of the user's thumb on a protruding tang to prevent the knife from folding during use. The blade is easily opened using the exposed tang or a pinch grip on the spine. Because these knives do not have a locking blade, they are legal for carry in nearly all jurisdictions.
The blade was forged to shape from 100cr6 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures a hard, keen edge with a softer spine. Brass washers ensure a smooth, consistent opening.
The folded handle mild steel handle incorporates reticulated brass and copper. The natural pattern is truly one-of-a-kind. The knife is easily pulled from the pocket using the fabric lanyard.
Exceptional work throughout from a maker whose work is rarely found in the US.
