Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Micke believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Andersson is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive bowie knives.
This massive blade is formed from composite bars of damascus. The bar at the spine is a bold twist pattern. Alternating bars of 20C and 15N20 carbon steels separate the spine from an explosion damascus edge. Micke's choice of steels ensures exceptionally keen, long lasting edge. Micke's makers mark is on the right ricasso.
The handle is formed from ironwood secured with a mosaic pin. The carved guard, spacer, and buttcap are formed from Micke's spiderweb pattern damascus. The contoured handle is very comfortable and the knife has exceptional balance.
To keep the knife close at hand, Micke has included a handmade tooled leather sheath. This sheath will protect the knife during transportation.
Excellent work throughout!
