Description: This is an elegant Piggyback Hunter Set by EG Peterson of Whitefish Montana. Eldon was a spectacular knifemaker and went full time in 1974. He was well known both for his hunting knives and folders. He passed away on Oct. 19, 2011. This set was made in the mid-2000s and is in new condition. Neither knife has been used to cut and by all appearances, Peterson could have made the set yesterday.
Both knives are hollow ground from ATS-34 stainless steel and feature a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. The swayback blade is 4-1/2 inches ling with a 4-1/4 cutting edge. Overall length is 9-1/2 inches. The drop point hunter has a 3.2 inch blade with a 3 inch cutting edge.
The handles are formed from stabilized buckeye burl and are set with mosaic pins. They are dovetailed to the bolsters for a perfect fit. The tangs are distal tapered for an optimal balance.
The knives are accompanied by a piggyback leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
