Description: Back in 1997 Steve Skiff made a hatchet for his son in his metal fabrication shop. This led to making a few hunting knives for family and friends. Before he knew it, Skiff was attending knife shows and attempting to learn everything he could about the craft of making knives. These days Steve is known for making high end folding knives with a high attention to detail and an incredible fit and finish rarely seen elsewhere. He is a voting member of the American Knifemakers Guild and belongs to the Northeast Cutlery Collectors Association (NCCA).
This custom Bandit #37 from Skiff shows his incredible machining skills and broad understanding of good design. The blade is made from Vinland pattern damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The resulting pattern is captivating and will provide excellent edge retention. The blade rotates open on caged ceramic bearings and has incredibly smooth action!
The handle is constructed from titanium that is machined and differentially anodized. Corners are perfectly rounded for a comfortable grip. A Black Timascus pivot ring adds extra flash into this design. Black Timascus is made from alternating layers of titanium and zirconium that have been heat colored. The scales surround a matching Black Timascus backbar that has been machined to provide a positive grip when pulling the knife from the pocket. Screw hardware throughout has been anodized blue. The knife is finished with a 3D machined Black Timascus pocket clip that is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
