Description: Mastersmith David Lisch has become well known for his bowies and kitchen knives, but before all that he was a blacksmith. This brute de forge style knife show's David's skill at the forge -- a skillset earned working countless thousands of hours working at the forge. David brings a skill level forging that few bladesmiths possess.
David forged this three finger utility knife very closely to shape, beginning with a bar of his own mosaic damascus. The blade features a forge finish along the flats and reveals the intricate mosaic pattern in the grinds. His choice of steels, as well as his skillful heat treatment, ensures that this is not only a beautiful knife, but also a high performing tool. The finger choil is nicely upset for a very comfortable grip.
The handle is formed from ancient walrus ivory set on a full tang. A distal taper to both blade and tang ensures a perfect balance. The cream toned ancient ivory has rare hints of blue. These colors entered as minerals moved into the ivory across thousands of years. The ivory is set in place with hand domed bronze pins. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
Excellent work throughout.
