Description: Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce was honored as an ABS journeyman smith in June 2011. As a close friend of Mastersmith Bill Burke, Bruce has been creating some spectacular, high performance knives.
The classic slip joint folder is given an elegant new lease on life in this backlock folder by Barnett. The Lanny's Clip design was developed by renowned folder maker Tony Bose for his friend Lanny Shell from Tennessee. Lanny saw the knife and bought the first ten that Tony produced. Lanny's Clip is now an iconic design.
The campfire pattern damascus blade has a dramatic high contrast pattern - it looks great from a distance, yet reveals further intricacies upon closer examination. A distal taper brings the weight back into the handle, providing a comfortable grip for effortless use. A nail nick in the blade ensures ease of opening.
The handle scales are formed from ringed gidgee wood (Acacia cambagei). Gidgee is an exceptional wood for knife handles and is considered to be one of Australia's most beautiful timbers. It has tremendous stability even when exposed to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. It is among the densest woods in the world and has a beautiful curl similar to Hawaiian koa. This resilient stabilized wood handle material holds up beautifully to regular carry. The scales are perfectly fit to 154CM stainless steel bolsters and are set on 410 stainless steel liners.
Exceptional work throughout!
