Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and retired architect, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa recognized John's skill and accepted him as a member in September 2006.
John designed this strong, reliable folder for everyday carry, yet it could easily be the most prized knife in virtually any collection.
The blade is formed from high performing stainless damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. The grinds reveal the dramatic damascus pattern, while the flats are mirror polished. It is wickedly sharp with a long, pierced swedge.
The blade is perfectly centered and the action is silky smooth, thanks to the IKBS ball bearing system. The IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play. A flipper assists in the ease of opening.
Silver strike carbon fiber scales rest on anodized titanium, keeping this knife light and fast. This variation of lightning strike carbon fiber uses silver toned wire rather than copper. The bolster is formed from heat colored Moku-ti. Similar to the technique used to forge damascus, Moku-ti is created with several layers of 6AI/4V titanium and CP titanium, fused and welded together to form a billet. The layered section is then artistically exposed revealing patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. A pierced, blue anodized titanium pocket clip makes it easy to keep the knife close at hand. The carbon fiber backbar is inlaid with MoonGlow II (luminescent polyester). This inlay glows in the dark, making the knife easy to find even under dark conditions.
Exceptional work throughout!
