Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing folder. He has worked extensively with Mastersmith Bill Burke and Bill Ruple. He is a tremendous smith at the forge and his attention to detail really shows through in his slip joint folders.
The classic slip joint trapper is given an elegant new lease on life in this knife by Bruce. The W's pattern damascus blade has a dramatic high contrast pattern - it looks great from a distance, yet reveals further intricacies upon closer examination. The blade is distal tapered for a detail-oriented point. A thumb ramp ensures a comfortable grip for effortless use. The blade is easily opened using a nail nick and has a solid half stop.
Handle scales are formed from dark amber jigged bone which complements the knife, giving it a classic look and a comfortable feel. The scales are perfectly fit to front and rear brushed 410 stainless steel bolsters and are set on matching fileworked liners. The backbar is formed from A2 stainless steel. Three hand domed pins complete the handle, matching the texture of the jigged bone well.
Exceptional work throughout!
