Description: Matthew Lerch is a long time, top tier art knife maker who has won numerous awards over the years and developed and patented various knife mechanisms. Matt only does a few shows each year and generally sells all his knives via lottery. The Mako is his foray into handmade knives designed for daily use. It is made with the same meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful features as his high end art pieces. Matt intends to only produce a limited number of these tactical knives.
The triple grind drop point blade is formed from premium S30V stainless steel. The grinds are polished. The flats feature a hand rubbed satin finish. A ball bearing pivot ensures smooth, consistent action.
The titanium frame is satin finished on the flats and bead blasted in the details. Lightning strike carbon fiber inlays add a tremendous contrast. Copper strands move through the carbon fiber weave. Lightning strike carbon fiber was originally designed for use on fighter jets to redirect lightning when flying through storms. The frame lock has a hardened lockbar insert and over travel protection. The detent resistance is fully adjustable. Using a .027” allen wrench, the detent, which is actually a shaft that is radiused on one end can be turned back for less resistance or forward for a firmer snap. Very few knives have an adjustable detent!
Titanium pivot lock nut and grooved back spacer. A lanyard hole is integrated into the top rear of the back spacer. The pocket clip is mounted for tip-up, right handed carry.
This is an exceptional piece!
