Description: Mastersmith Kevin Harvey is well known for his tremendous attention to detail -- only matched by his skill at design. This large clip point bowie is a dramatic example of his work.
The 10-1/3 inch clip point blade was forged to shape by Kevin. The complex pattern is one he calls Raindrops in W's. It is high contrast and immediately captivating. The thick spine moves into the clip point swedge that is brought to a fully sharpened edge. The cutting edge is finished with a Spanish notch for easy maintenance.
The handle is made from Hairy Vitex burl. This African wood has a warm brown tone and a tremendous grain pattern reminiscent of redwood burl and thuya burl. Wood scales are set on a damascus frame. Nickel silver liners separate the scales from the frame and have been hand fileworked. The damascus frame is engraved into a leaf pattern. A ladder pattern damascus guard and ferrule separate the handle from the blade.
This knife is accompanied by a wood sheath wrapped in ostrich chick leather with a nickel silver throat and tip. Kevin also included a tin of Harvey's Conservation Wax. Kevin has done a lot of experimenting over the years to create this wax which will help protect the knife from rust.
Absolutely exceptional work throughout!
