Description: Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson's knives have always inspired me. There is a gentlemanly elegance to his work that matches his personality. Silver vines are inlaid into presentation grade curly maple. The antiqued wood gives an heirloom quality to this exceptional Jay Hendrickson hunter.
Jay began by forging the 1095 carbon steel blade closely to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's work. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between the soft, supportive spine and the keen, hard edge. Jay believes strongly in the hand forging process and it clearly shows in his work. By forging the blade to shape, Jay ensures optimal edge retention.
The handle is formed from presentation grade curly maple. Scrolls of fine silver are meticulously inlaid into each side of the maple. The vines finish with inlaid copper berries. The shaping of the maple feels great in hand -- this is a knife you won't want to put down! The handle is finished with two scales of Indian stag with a hand fileworked tang. All finishing and embellishments -- of both knives and sheaths -- are completed by Jay.
This knife is accompanied by a hand tooled, high quality brown leather pouch type sheath.
