Description: This exceptional S-Guard Bowie was created by Seattle bladesmith David Lisch. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. David became a master smith in 2015. This one was made while he was a journeyman smith. It has never been used to cut and is in brand new condition. By all appearances it could have been made yesterday.
The clip point blade is forged to shape from multiple bars of damascus. Showing his tremendous skill at the forge, David forged the bars, joining them a the tip so that the pattern follows both the spine and edge. The influence of Mastersmiths Tom Ferry and Jon Christensen is clearly evident in the intricate, dramatic damascus. Lisch, in turn, has become known for his highly controlled, high contrast damascus and this is an excellent example of his skills.
The S guard, pommel, and ferrule are formed from matching damascus. A central column of premium sambar stag provides a secure, comfortable grip. David is particularly well known for his use of stag and this one shows his skill well. The stag is perfectly shaped and has just enough of its natural texture to be a fantastically secure grip while being very comfortable. The pommel is carved to match the natural texture of the stag. The knife is accompanied by a presentation stand, also made by David Lisch.
Exceptional work throughout!
