Description: Joe Flournoy started making knives in 1977 and joined the Knifemakers' Guild in 1979. He was taught basic forging by Bill Moran and became a Master Smith in 1992. He has won numerous awards including Best Hand Forged Knife (Blade Show, 1991 & 1993), Moran Award - Knife of the Year (1993), Best Damascus Design (Blade Show, 1995). His work, which comes out of his country blacksmith's forge, is sure to be enjoyed for a lifetime.
This Bowie knife was forged to shape from carbon steel. It was differentially heat treated, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge with a soft, supportive spine. An heirloom quality satin finish lends tremendous elegance to the long, slender blade. The clip is brought just barely shy of a fully sharpened edge.
Satin finished 416 stainless steel fittings surround a handle formed from presentation grade Arizona desert ironwood. The dark wood has nice figure and warm tones are nicely highlighted by thin copper spacers in the ferrule. The handle is completed with two stainless steel rivets.
The knife is accompanied by a hand made Kenny Rowe leather sheath.
