Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned Mastersmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using techniques he learned -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional.
The clip point blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. It was hand satin finished for an heirloom quality. The blade is distal tapered for a perfect balance.
A satin finished 416 stainless steel guard meets perfectly to the spalted maple burl handle. The stabilized wood has an intricate, swirling grain pattern that is tremendously complex. It is sculpted for a particularly comfortable grip -- swelling at the palm, moving into a slimmer waist, and swelling again at the pommel. Black fiber spacers surround a fileworked copper spacer and assist the knife to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
