Description: Shane Taylor's Batwing Fighters have been a hallmark of his career. The sleek shape is exceptionally comfortable and maneuverable when held.
The clip point blade was forged from tamahagane 'jewel steel'. This traditional technique of smelting steel from black sand leave behind iron and other elements to form the steel that made Japanese swords famous.
The blade has been differentially tempered using a traditional Japanese clay technique. This method results in a gently undulating transition line called a hamon. The spine and handle have both been hammer textured for a very dramatic appearance. Subtle skulls float in the texture of the handle -- like spirits floating in the Aether.
Both the blade tang are distal tapered for optimal balance. An exceptional, yet deceptively simple knife.
