Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. The action is silky smooth -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous front flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping, and the blade has been hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The unique scales combine layers of black carbon fiber and toxic green G10 that meet up with 303 stainless steel bolsters. The bolsters were finely and elegantly hand textured, providing a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. Jimping on the thumb ramp ensures a secure purchase. The unobtrusive flipper slightly projects from the front end of the knife and allows for a very smooth and fast blade deployment. The front flipper mechanism is more compact than a standard flipper and doesn't tend to catch on things as easily. The handle is completed with blue anodized titanium liners that elegantly contrast against the black/green scales. The liners are fileworked and surround a steel backspacer that has shallow holes drilled, artistically nestled between the arcs in the liners. The pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
