Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same technique -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional.
The clip point blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. The blade was etched and meticulously hand satin finished for an heirloom quality finish.
Oosic offers a unique handle for this piece. The ancient walrus bone is found along sea coasts in Alaska as well as a few other areas throughout the world. The color inherent in the bone is a result of minerals in the soil that surrounded the bone over the many years. Black fiber spacers assist the knife to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
Accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
