Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned Mastersmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same technique -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional!
The clip point blade was forged from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The blade was hand satin finished for an heirloom quality.
The handle is comprised of two pieces of expertly matched sheep horn in mortised tang construction - the seams are nearly imperceptible. Sheep horn is a perfect choice for use knives -- both because it is so durable and because rather than becoming slippery when wet, it becomes more 'grippy'. The handle is completed with a single mosaic pin. A satin finished stainless steel double guard prevents the hand from slipping forward onto the blade. Black fiber spacers assist the handle in adjusting to changes in temperature and humidity. A copper spacer highlights copper in the mosaic pin for an exquisite touch.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
