Description: Mastersmith Gary House is perhaps best known for his highly detailed, controlled damascus. The fineness of the pattern and the sheer depth and beauty that the heat bluing adds to the piece speak volumes about Gary's aesthetic sense, design vision, and technical proficiency.
The blade is forged from Gary's twisted butterfly pattern mosaic damascus. His steel, which is frequently used by other high end makers on their knives, is dramatic -- showing tremendous interest in the details when viewed close at hand and having bolder patterns that draw attention from a distance. By heat bluing the dagger ground blade, Gary is able to bring out multiple blue and purple tones with bright silver lines.
The handle is formed from a pristine piece of hand fluted African blackwood with fileworked silver and ancient walrus ivory spacers. The guard is firestorm pattern damascus forged from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels. The pommel features a cap of butterfly damascus matching the blade.
The dagger is accompanied by a presentation stand of exhibition grade mammoth ivory and blued nickel mosaic damascus. The ivory displays stunning hues of green running throughout the caramel toned tusk.
Exceptional work throughout!
