Description: Spectacular and stunning are terms that come to mind when viewing this piece. The fancy feather damascus is breathtaking! This is a modification of feather pattern that Journeyman Smith Dave Lisch developed -- it combines a traditional feather with dramatic plumes forged into the steel. This blade is shaped so that there is a nearly symmetrical pattern on both sides of a beautiful feather. This accomplishment is a daunting task, even on regular damascus much less on a piece this size and a style this intricate. Lisch used 15N20, 1080, and 1075 for this piece.
The hilt and ferrule are also made of damascus, and are separated by a thin ring of copper nickel. Also known as Cupronickel, this metal was known to the Romans as an artificial "white" gold and was used by the ancient Greeks and Chinese. It provides a perfect reflective contrast to the darker damascus.
The handle is a polished ancient walrus ivory. The rare ivory chosen by Dave for this handle has natural striations that match the flow of the piece. Longitudinal layers of dark blue, taupe, and light tan run the length of the smooth handle. The feel is comfortable and rings of quality.
A nicely tooled brown leather sheath accompanies this knife. This is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
