Description: Here is a stunning work of art by Glenn Waters. This unique piece seizes your attention immediately, with eye-catching colors.
The handles are comprised of Timascus, a damascus forged from different grades of titanium. They have been anodized to show blue and bronze tones, and then hand engraved with a dragon. The right side depicts a dragon head and tail in the clouds with lightning forks, while the obverse shows a similar scene sans tail. The Timascus is joined on both sides by beautiful box elder burl stabilized and dyed by Craig Stevens. Interspersed within the wood grain are colors of muted pinks, blues, and tans. Ensuring a perfect fit, Glenn milled out the Timascus such that the wood could be set beneath.
The back full spacer of ATS-34 has gorgeous trailing vine engraving, and is sandwiched between blue anodized titanium liners also sporting matching filework their entire lengths, top and bottom.
The blade is ZDP-189 stainless steel. This steel is among the holy grails of stainless steels. It has a particularly small crystalline structure and takes on incredible hardness (Hrc68!). It has become virtually impossible to find ZDP-189. Engravings of Buddhist kanji symbols for good luck adorn the mirror-polished blade, which is a modified reverse tanto. A nail nick is carved into both sides.
This non-locking folder uses a unique mechanism which allows the liner to provide resistance when open, while not providing a full lock -- making legal in Glenn's native Australia.
This piece deserves a special place in your collection.
