Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same techniques -- creating exceptional edge retention.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. A differential heat treatment is visible in the polished steel. This results in a keen, long lasting edge with a softer, supportive spine. A 416 stainless steel guard meets perfectly to the Arizona desert ironwood burl handle. A full tang ensures strength and durability. The warm, dark toned wood has a intricate swirling grain pattern. The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
