Description: Journeyman Smith David Lisch created this exceptional chef's knife. The 9-3/4 inch long damascus blade is a pattern that he calls Fighting Dragons. Stylized light and dark dueling dragons soar across a mosaic sky. The blade is forged to shape, resulting in optimal grain pattern and durability. Showing his tremendous skill at the forge, the bolster is integral. Though this technique is regularly done in production knives, forging an integral bolster in a custom setting is extremely difficult and shows the maker's skill at its best. The blade is slightly heavier than most Japanese blades, but lighter than their German counterparts -- a nice balance between performance and strength.
The handle is formed from ebony. It swells at the palm and toward the pommel for a comfortable grip. Alternating copper and black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The copper introduces dramatic warm tones to the knife.
David is clearly a maker to watch for his culinary knives!
