Description: In the late 1800s, Michael Price was among the greatest of the knifemakers of San Francisco. The knives produced by him were among the most exotic, the most costly, and perhaps the most beautiful knives ever made in the United States. Reproductions such as this one created by Kevin Harvey successfully re-create the spirit of these earlier American makers.
The blade is forged to shape from a complex mosaic damascus and incorporates elements of stars, basket weave, and bold and fine W pattern damascus. Copper flashing adds warmth to the steel, echoing rich tones of the handle.
Kevin used a stunning piece of presentation grade rosewood burl for the handle with warm, dark tones and an intricate swirling grain pattern. The copper double ring guard has been engraved by Kevin. A copper finial on the butt complements the knife. The copper fittings of the guard and finial tie together warm tones and swirling patters in both the blade and handle.
The dagger is accompanied by an antiqued copper scabbard shaped to fit. A copper button completes the scabbard. The dagger comes with an elegant custom African wood display box. Truly an exceptional piece by Mastersmith Kevin Harvey!
