Description: Edward, the Black Prince, was born in 1330 and died in 1376. He was never king of England, but was father of King Richard II of England. Edward was the Price of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, and the Prince of Aquitaine. The life of the Black Prince was an inspiration for Kevin when he was making this exceptional push dagger. While the Black Prince may have owned some exceptional daggers, I'm not sure that he owned a push dagger this majestic!
The blade and guard were formed from matching damascus forged by Kevin from carbon steels. The bold ladder pattern is nicely complemented by bronze heat coloring. 14k gold was used for the guard finials, butt cap pins, ferrule, and tube settings, with a total of 30.6 grams! The textured gold collar was made by renowned Swaziland jeweler, Frances Farrell. The gold butt cap was meticulously engraved by Helene van Wyk. The gold used throughout nicely highlights warm tones in the Arizona desert ironwood handle. Each side of the ricasso is set with faceted rubies. Two of the rubes are .2 carat and two are .3 carat.
The knife is matched in quality with its sheath. The wooden sheath is wrapped with ostrich shin leather and lines with soft, protective leather. The throat and tip are formed from patented copper.
Exceptional!
