Description: Mastersmith Shane Taylor forges a spectacular knife, and this folder is among his best.
Shane began by forging the complex damascus billet for the blade and bolsters. A complex mosaic pattern is formed from 15N20 and 1084 carbon steels. Heat bluing brings out exceptional contrast in the steel. Both bolsters are meticulously inlaid with 24kt gold -- A detailed phoenix is surrounded by Celtic knot work.
Mammoth ivory scales combine caramel, blue and green tones. They are dovetailed to the damascus bolsters for a perfect fit. The screws are each hand engraved. The thumbstud is a deep blue sapphire. 15N20 liners have been hand fileworked. The 1084 backbar is fileworked and hand engraved both inside and out. As with Shane's other batwing folders, the handle fits securely into the hand and allows several grips. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
