Description: Explorer George Washington Sears, who was born in 1821, lived with Nipmuc Indians and learned skills of wilderness living. He is best known for his writings under the pen name of "Nessmuk", which dated from 1880 - 1890. During this time, he developed the knife pattern which would later bear his name. This pattern is believed by many woodsman to be the perfect knife, even today. The deep belly allows it to be an excellent skinning knife, with the weight brought toward the tip. The stag crown handle is very comfortable in the hand and provides a sure grip. The guard and pommel are wrought iron forged from an 1800s era anchor chain. All has been antiqued for a timeless appearance and feel. The knife is accompanied by a cowhide sheath wrapped with buckskin.
