Description: Bruce Bingenheimer was honored as a journeyman smith in June 2010. Looking at this exceptional Bowie knife, it is no surprise that it was awarded Best Hand Forged Knife at the Montana Knifemakers Association Show in the fall of 2011.
The long clip point blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment assures a strong blade, with a soft, supportive spine and a keen, long lasting edge. The blade was quenched using a traditional Japanese technique whereby the spine is coated in clay. The gently undulating heat treatment line is called a hamon. A distal taper provides optimal balance. The oval guard is formed from Bruce's own nickel damascus. The jet black African blackwood handle was carved for a secure, comfortable grip. A central nickel silver pin completes the handle. Accompanied by hand stitched and textured leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout!
