Description: This knife was made by Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson back in 2010 and was kept in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and appears to be in near mint condition. The blade just shows a couple of very light oxidation spots -- though you'll need to look carefully to be able to find them.
Knives that have mixed the warmth of natural wood and stag have an elegant heirloom quality and this knife does it to perfection. Fine silver inlay adds elegance to this exceptional Jay Hendrickson Clip Point Hunter.
Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson began by forging the 1095 carbon steel blade to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged blades. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between soft, supportive spine and the keen, hard edge steel.
The curly maple handle has been inlaid with fine silver vines culminating in textured leaves and berry pins. A stag front bolster is set sideways, with the bark facing toward the front of the knife. The handle is nicely sculpted to perfectly fit the hand. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
The knife is accompanied by a leather sheath inlaid with diamondback rattlesnake skin.
Exceptional work throughout from a true master!
