Description: The spiral is a mysterious symbol, repeated in ancient cultures from across the globe and inspiring artists throughout the ages. Jeff Driscoll sculpted brass into a spira mirabilis, or miraculous spiral - referencing ancient Chinese rooftop carvings believed to invoke the sun. The brass is set on a disc of copper, fileworked to mimic the sun's rays and remind the wearer of the continuity of life. The elegant metal sculpture is supported by a cocobolo backing, carved into the shape of a deciduous leaf with a gently crenated edge.
The pendant measures approximately 1.6 inches wide by 2.2 inches long. The length measurement includes the hanging hardware. The thickest part of the pendant, the apex of the brass sun-spiral, measures 0.36 inches thick.
