Description: Shane Taylor's Bat Claw Fighters have long been among my favorite knife designs. The Pterodactyl Claw is a modification of his renowned Bat Claw, and incorporates a push dagger design. The sleek shape is exceptionally comfortable and maneuverable when held.
The W2 carbon steel blade was differentially heat treated using the traditional Japanese clay technique. This method results in a gently undulating transition line called a hamon. The spine and handle have both been hammer textured for a very dramatic appearance. Subtle skulls float in the texture of the handle -- like spirits floating in the aether. The blade has a strong distal tapers so as the bring the weight back into the handle. This knife is numbered 1014 (14th fixed blade of 2010). Exceptional work throughout!
