Description: This intriguing pendant by Tom Sterling is an example of the stunning results a bladesmith can produce when their attention is turned to the crafting of fine jeweler.
The 22 inch long chain is handmade from wrought Argentium silver links in two sizes, allowing the chain to easily sit flat without twisting. It is finished with a beautifully hand forged and finished silver toggle clasp. The clasp is located immediately above the pendant itself, adding an air of whimsy to the piece as well as allowing for versatility of wear. The chain features four well-spaced half-inch sections of chain in a Byzantine weave, framing the pendant in a stylishly elaborate fashion.
The diameter of the domed pendant is approximately 1-1/4 inch, and the height of the curve from edge to apex is approximately 1/4 inch. The silver has been hammer finished and antiqued.
The pendant is reversible - the domed side of the "fractured disk" features antiquing on the inside of the fracture edge, and six silver "rivets" which hold the three "fracture bridges" in place. The hollow side of the pendant has heavier antiquing and the bridges are visible as rectangular pieces of silver, also riveted from this side.
This is a bold and unique piece of jewelry, perfect for evening, but equally as wearable during the day.
