Description: Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius has a sense of design rarely found elsewhere. When his vision is combined with the artistry of damascus forged by renowned bladesmiths Roger Bergh, the result is a knife of elegant, graceful complexity.
Roger Bergh is among the best known Swedish bladesmiths. Here, he has shown his skill at its best. The blade is a five bar composite combining twist pattern damascus with a central mosaic damascus bar. The patterns are fascinating both upon closer inspection and from a distance.
The stacked handle combined mammoth ivory with masur birch and ironwood. The front section is cross cut mammoth ivory. Both the front and rear sections oaf desert ironwood have been textured, combining a sure comfortable grip with a dramatic appearance. A central masur birch section is dyed and stabilized. Alternating nickel silver and black fiber spacers add contrast and assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The resulting handle is comfortable in the hand and extremely beautiful. A restrained color palette from all the materials used allows texture, grain and finish to captivate -- this piece is incredibly nuanced in detail and in design. The handle is nicely finished with a mammoth ivory finial. The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled traditional Swedish leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
