Description: Bruce Bingenheimer was honored as a journeyman smith in June 2010. This fighter is among the first knives that bears his JS stamp. After becoming well known as a bladesmith, he began focusing on folders in 2012. Sadly, Bruce passed away on March 9, 2018. He will be dearly missed. This bowie has been in a single private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It has never been carried or used and by all appearances, Bruce could have made it yesterday.
The long drop point blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures a strong blade, with a soft, supportive spine and a keen, long lasting edge. A triple temper and triple quench provides the best edge holding. The blade is distal tapered for optimal balance.
The mesquite burl handle was stabilized so as to hold up well to outdoor use. The handle is nicely shaped for a perfect grip. The damascus guard is hand fileworked and perfectly fit to the blade and handle.
Accompanied by hand stitched, carved and textured custom leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
