Description: Joe Yeates, who is now retired, was best known for his Iron Mistress Bowies. This knife has been in a single collection since it was first purchased from Joe. It has been meticulously cared for and is in exceptional condition. The mirror polished blade has no scuffs and has never been used to cut.
Joe made this knife as a close copy of the Bowie used by Alan Ladd in the movie "The Iron Mistress." This movie has inspired many a knifemaker and a collector over the years. Joe had the opportunity to obtain the pattern from the movie Bowie from Mr. Joe Musso, who owns the original movie knife.
The 10 1/2 inch stainless blade was mirror polished and brass inlayed along the spine. The cutting edge is a semi hollow grind from the gross guard to the point and the false edge (clipped point) is convex ground for strength.
The lugged cross guard, scalloped collar and butt plate are nickel silver and the rosettes are silver pins with a brass tube. The escutcheon on the left side is formed from nickel silver. The nicely rounded grip was made from African blackwood.
Accompanied by original tooled leather sheath.
