Description: This exceptional Bowie by Mastersmith Ed Caffrey was made while he was a journeyman smith. It was the ABS J.S. Knife of the Year in 2000. It has been in a mastersmith's personal collection since it was awarded the Knife of the Year and was meticulously cared for. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
The blade is a complex mosaic pattern that will immediately grab attention. Complex mosaics are combined in a bold quilt of steel. The long clip creates an elegant appearance. The blade is finished with a Spanish notch. Both the guard and pommel have been blued and fileworked. The handle was formed from a single piece of presentation fossil walrus ivory. Excellent work throughout.
