Description: Journeyman Smith Tommy Gann makes an exceptional Bowie. The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. Gann used a traditional Japanese method of heat treating where the spine is coated with clay to insulate the blade prior to quenching. The resulting blade has a soft, supportive spine with a hard, long lasting edge. The gently undulating differential heat treatment line is called a hamon. A hand rubbed satin finish creates an elegant, heirloom quality. The guard and pommel are formed from 416 stainless steel and surround the exhibition grade gidgee wood handle. The handle is nicely carved and sits comfortably in the hand. Accompanied by hand tooled, hand stitched leather belt sheath. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
