Description: Josef Rusnak is a master of carving in steel, fine metals, and ivories. This collaborative effort between Josef and American knifemaker Buddy Weston shows both of their skills at their best.
The stout Damasteel damascus blade was forged from carbon steels. By bluing the blade, Josef has assured exceptional contrast. The blade is easily opened using the faceted citrine thumb stud.
The highly detailed handle is carved from antiqued bronze. No parts on this folder were cast. On the left side, a sea snail slides along a beach, passing by an oyster (also carved in bronze), a cone shell, and a conch. The cone shell was inlaid in .925 silver and meticulously carved for detail. The conch is inlaid in red gold and similarly detail carved. Three silver pearls attach to the oyster shell. The right side shows the same snail's progress, but this time passing a swimming fish, an open oyster (with a gold and a silver pearl) and a golden star fish. Titanium liners have been meticulously hand fileworked and surround the fileworked damascus backbar. The knife is attached to an 18 kt gold chain measuring 16 1/4 inches. Exceptional work throughout!
