Description: Five knives are made by each applicant for Journeyman Smith that they feel to be the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. The knives that a prospective Journeyman puts forward for testing are among the masterpieces of their career -- knowing that masters will be examining their work, the maker often puts many times the attention and time than they would generally do for their knives. The Curly Maple Bowie was one of the five knives that Henry selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters. As you would expect, Henry has paid attention to every detail. Henry, who is now a master smith, kept this knife in his private collection and now he has decided to put it on the market.
The W2 carbon steel blade has been forged to shape and was given a meticulous hand satin finish. A differential heat treatment results in a strong, supportive spine with an ultra hard, long lasting cutting edge.
The S-guard, ferrule, and butt cap are formed from nickel silver. The stabilized curly maple handle is dark toned with distinctive curls. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
