Description: Michael, who was honored as a Journeyman Smith in June 2006 has a style all of his own. His work combines an aesthetic drawn from Medieval and Far East influences.
This integral damascus fighting knife was hand forged from Michael's own damascus. The bold random pattern is immediately captivating both from a distance and up close.
The damascus bolster is also integral -- a technique that is very rare in handmade knives due to the difficulty of implementation. The resulting knife is extremely durable and dramatic. The handle is formed from maple burl with curly maple accents. The woods are meticulously combined in a complex arch -- with the seams nearly beyond perception. By using stabilized woods, Michael is able to combine the beauty of natural wood with durability. Alternating spacers are formed from brass, red and blue fiber. The knife has perfect balance and feels exceptional in the hand. The knife is accompanied by a pouch style, hand stitched and tooled leather sheath. Exceptional work throughout.
