Description: Johan Gustafsson is famed for creating some of the most detailed Damascus found anywhere -- and this folder shows off his skills at their best. It is among my favorite knives that Johan has made to date.
The blade is formed from a complex mosaic pattern that incorporates multiple bars of steel. The primary flats are complimented by a firecracker pattern edge bar. Front and rear bolsters are formed from matching mosaic damascus. Johan has spent years developing a complex heat coloring technique to bring out colors rarely, if ever, found in other makers' work. Green, purple, and blue tones move throughout the steel. The resulting Damascus is both visually interesting from a distance and captivating upon closer examination. Mammoth molar has been dovetailed between front and rear bolsters, assuring a perfect fit. The scales sit on fully fileworked and anodized titanium liners. Full Damascus backbar. 18k gold plated screws are used throughout.
The blade has silky-smooth action and is easily opened using the damascus thumb stud which holds a faceted blue sapphire. The adjustable stops, unique to Johan's knives, allows for the blade stops to be adjusted, assuring a perfect lock over time. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
