Description: Michael Almqvist crafted his first knife at 15 years old. His 30 years of artistry are reflected in this exceptional award-winning half horn utility. North Cape Half Horn took second place in the fine utility knife category at the 2007 Soderhamns Knife Show in Sweden.
This knife is a traditional Sami style known as a half horn. The reindeer antler handle is combined with a "half horn" sheath featuring a leather upper and reindeer antler base. The blade was forged from 20C carbon steel. The grinds are satin finished, with the spine forge textured. The handle incorporates reindeer antler engraved with a traditional Scandinavian basket weave pattern. The engraving has been carved so that it has tremendous three dimensional texture. A light colored reindeer antler 'bolster' is separated from the darker engraved handle by a damascus ferrule. The knife fits securely into a traditional style Swedish sheath of engraved reindeer and leather. The sheath has matching engraving. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
