Description: Mastersmith Shane Taylor forges a spectacular knife, and this folder is among his master works to date. Shane began by forging out the Damascus billet for the blade and bolsters. A complex mosaic pattern is formed from 15N20 and 1084 carbon steels. Heat bluing brings out an exceptional contrast between the steels.
Meticulously carved mammoth ivory scales are burnt cream toned with hints of blue/green and are perfectly fit to the damascus bolsters in a complex 'S'. The same S-curve is nicely reflected in the step-down bolster at the front of the knife. Both the step down and primary bolsters along with the ricasso have been meticulously inlaid with 24kt gold in Gothic style. Each of screws was heat blued and inlaid with 24kt gold details. 15N20 liners have been heat blued and are meticulously textured. The heat blued 1084 backbar has been engraved and inlaid with 24kt gold both inside and out. As with Shane's other batwing folders, the handle fits securely into the hand and allows several grips. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
