Description: Deep blue tones predominate this folding linerlock by Mastersmith Josh Smith. Josh's work has a fit and finish rarely found in other maker's knives -- even from other masters.
The heat blue Damascus on the blade and bolsters is very detailed and well executed. Tightly twisted patterns culminate in explosions as they approach the edge. The fineness of the pattern and the sheer depth and beauty that the heat bluing adds to the piece speak volumes about Josh's aesthetic sense, design vision, and technical proficiency.
Exquisite, premium bark mammoth ivory scales meet perfectly with the bolsters in an artistic 'S' curve. This swooping flourish is echoed in the shallow choil and the curved scroll, lending a graceful old world feel to the knife.
The ivory itself combines stunning deep blue and green tones with soft caramel accents, an extremely rare and sought after color combination. Hints of the outer bark combine the deep green tones. Screws throughout are fully fileworked. The 1084 carbon steel backbar has been fileworked and is surrounded by fileworked and heat colored 15N20 carbon steel liners. The action on this folder is silky smooth and the blade perfectly centered. A faceted diamond is set into the thumb stud. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
