Description: This upswept hunter was made by Jim Arbuckle back in the spring of 2007 in preparation for testing to become a Journeyman Smith. Five knives are made by each applicant -- these are the height of their skill and design. These knives are judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. This hunter/utility knife was one of the five knives that Jim selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters. Jim decided to keep this one in his personal collection until now.
The trailing point blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel. Hardened to Hrc 58-59, the knife will have a keen, long lasting edge. An appleseed grind ensures strength and durability. A hand rubbed satin finish adds an heirloom quality. The handle is formed from a solid piece of che-chen, a Caribbean rosewood. The knife is accompanied by a handsome 9 oz leather sheath made by Jim.
Exceptional work throughout!
