Description: Tom Sterling is well known for his knapped stone knives. In the last year, he has begun forging and has been caught with the steel bug. Here, he has combined his new love of the forged blade with his knapped style.
This is utility-style "knapped" dagger features a blade hand forged from 1095 carbon steel. The steel was then carved and hot blued to resemble a knapped stone knife. The handle is formed from antiqued elk antler with boxwood spacers. Textured desert ironwood is used for the pommel and bolster.
The accompanying sheath is a masterpiece. Rawhide was shaped and hardened to perfectly fit the blade. Ornamentation formed from bone beads is finished off with a fossil ivory dangly.
Exceptional work throughout!
