Description: This Aikuchi/tanto shows Scott's sense of design and fit and finish at its best. The hamon shows a clear differential heat treat created by clay tempering. The result is a super-hard edge for sharpness and a softer, resilient spine. Fittings throughout -- from menuki (grip ornaments, cast by Scott) to habaki (blade collar, which protects the blade while in the sheath) and tsuba (sword guard) are all formed from sterling silver. Menuki, showing fish swimming in the ocean, are set on each side of the handle. The fittings show off rolling waves in meticulous engraving by Barbara Slobodian. The tsuba is inlaid with a copper fish. Storm can be fully disassembled using a traditional pin. Excellent fit and finish throughout!
