Description: Another in the "ugly fish" series, the Alligator Gar Nessmuk, is carved from pyrographed and polychromed English boxwood. The body has been meticulously sculpted with detailed fins and gills. The hand forged 1080 carbon steel blade makes a dramatic Nessmuk style tail. The eyes show the strongest evidence of Tom's experience with netsuke (small sculptural objects, or toggles, usually worn to suspend objects hung from the sash of the kimono). The fossil ivory eyes are inlaid with ebony pupils, creating a lifelike appearance. Accompanied by black walnut and weathered vine display stand. A treasure for knife and fish enthusiasts. Exceptional work throughout!
