Description: Charles Sauer’s knifemaking philosophy is simple: “Let me build you a knife you'll use!" He builds knives so that they may last for several generations.
In 2002 the MKA board selected this design Montana Knifemakers Association club knife. Accordingly, Charles made 20 knives of this pattern combination of materials. This is #13 of 20 that were made. The knife has been a knifemaker's private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in new condition.
The drop point blade was forged from random pattern Damascus using 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. A differential heat treatment assures a keen, long lasting edge with a softer, supportive spine. Black ash burl scales are set on a fileworked full tang. This exceptional knife will feel at home in a collection but is sturdy enough for use out in the field.
